The ACES Team in San Jose exceeded their fundraising goal in the recent Bay Area, California walk benefiting Autism Speaks. Autism Speaks is an advocacy organization in the United States that sponsors research and conducts activities to increase awareness and understanding of autism.
“Each year we have a goal for the walk of between $2,000-$4,000, said ACES San Jose Area Director, Jennifer Sutera, MA, BCBA. “This year, we exceeded our goal at just over $6,000 and counting!
“At ACES we highly value team work, collaboration and fun. Our Culture Team Leaders had friendly competitions with their groups to raise money by having pancakes breakfasts, a talent show, selling custom jewelry with the Autism Awareness symbol and other activities.”
In all, sixty people in the San Jose ACES office participated, including twenty-five who were onsite at the event. The best is yet to come as the leadership will thank the San Jose staff later this summer.
“The Team Leaders and I will be washing the cars of everyone who participated. That’s going to be a lot of cars! We already have our musical playlist ready, including our plans to blast ‘At the Car Wash’ by the 80’s disco group Rose Royce!”
