A new recommendation from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention this week states that people should cover their mouth and nose with a cloth, bandana, or other non-medical masks whenever they are outside the home. The CDC wants medical masks reserved for healthcare professionals who need to prevent bodily fluid transmission during medical treatment.
The catchy message is, “If you’re in a public space, cover your face.” The CDC wants to remind us that this does not take the place of or reduce the need for us to follow previous guidelines, such as continuing to stay home and practicing physical distancing when out for essential activities.
