An ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) Graduation is one of the most special and impactful successes a child with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their family can experience in a lifetime. ABA is never meant to be a forever treatment. Rather, BCBAs and ABA clinicians at ACES focus on treating the very specific and individualized needs of each individual with autism as they come to ACES for ABA services and support. In addition to the goals and outcomes the individual with autism and their family strives for, ACES clinicians stive to greatly reduce or eliminate the symptoms of autism.
Examples of individual or family outcomes goals may include
- Independence with Personal Care
- Engage in play with others
- Functional Communication to communicate desires/needs to others
- Engage in coping strategies
- Successful conversations
Examples of BCBA outcome goals include
- Individual scoring developmentally normative on standardized assessments
- Individual with autism displays gained skills across multiple environments, people and materials
- Individual is integrated into their natural environment
- Parents/caregivers are feeling calm and confidient with their child’s progress
