An ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) Graduation is one of the most special and impactful successes a child with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their family can experience in a lifetime. ABA is never meant to be a forever treatment. Rather, clinicians at ACES focus on treating the very specific and individualized needs of everyone with autism as they come to ACES for ABA services and support. At ACES, we prioritize clinical quality, results, and outcomes, ensuring that each child progresses towards meaningful and functional skills that improve their daily life. Our approach emphasizes working on basic skills that are important to caregivers while also considering key developmental milestones. The ultimate goal is to prepare children to thrive in their home, school, and community settings independently.
Personalized Goals that Lead to Graduation
Each child’s journey through ABA therapy is unique, and their graduation is based on their ability to meet personalized goals that contribute to their overall success. Some examples of these goals include:
- Independent Skills – Toilet training, getting dressed, and washing hands
- Socialization – Greeting peers, initiating play, sustaining play, asking and answering questions.
- Communication – Asking for items/activities, requesting a break, and communicating displeasure.
- Decreasing Maladaptive Behaviors – Reducing tantrum behavior to foster positive interactions.
These goals are tailored to each child’s specific needs, ensuring that their progress is both meaningful and impactful for their everyday life. The focus is always on real-world applications that enhance the child’s ability to function independently and confidently.
Caregivers: A Journey to Confidence
A major component of a child’s success in ABA therapy is the confidence and preparedness of their parents and caregivers. Our approach ensures that caregivers feel calm and confident in their child’s progress and ability to navigate various environments successfully. Through collaboration with our administrators, clinicians, and families, we work together to create a seamless transition from ABA services to independent functioning.

Graduation: A Celebration of Success
We believe that a client’s graduation from ABA services should be wildly celebrated with peers, clinicians, and family members. To honor this achievement, ACES offers Graduation Parties for clients to celebrate their successes and the milestones they have achieved.
What Will Graduation Look Like?
